Drawings carved by early residentsof the region.
Enjoy a 5 hour ride to the site of ancient Hohokam petroglyphs and experience what the Native Americans saw around 900-1200 A.D. There are many to look at, petroglyphs of bow and arrows, deer, bighorn sheep, etc. What were they really saying? Is it a map showing water? You tell us what you think, there is really no wrong answer to the mythical figures on the rocks. Human, animal and geometric forms, carved in rocks, thousands of years old...often studied, but rarely understood. Plan on spending the day in the saddle to see these unique carvings, and don't forget the camera!
